Sapin has been awarded with 571 Blue Flags and it is on the top of the 34 participant countries.

The European Foundation of Environmental Education (FEEE), has awarded the beaches of the municipality of Adeje, Troya I - II and Playa Fañabé, with the European Union's Blue Flag 2009. This emblem is granted to beaches that respect the hygienic, sanitary and environmental conditions that the current legislation demands, as well as the safety conditions and accessibility necessary for the well-being of the users.

Furthermore,  beaches that compete for the Blue Flag  must have the following conditions: water quality, Information and Environmental education and Environmental management (to be provided with a Development plan of the area) .

The Blue Flag is not  only a recognition granted to a beach of a municipality, but to the effort of all. It  must serve like an incentive to design, to define and to implant the new model of  sun and beach tourism we want, as well as a concept of sustainable global quality.
