Although it is mainly known for its beaches and water activities, many visitors are surprised to learn that Costa Adeje has a beautiful network of local trails that allow you to explore its natural surroundings and enjoy breathtaking views.

It is enough to put on your boots and walk along any of the paths included in the map of the network of trails that lead to the most beautiful and hidden spots of the municipality.

The paths of the summit speak to us with the vigor of a plethoric nature, of a lush pine forest, rich in pitch, with wide cereal plains, tell stories of traveling bees and water galleries. In them, the sheep and goats were distributed, in the past, with agility and made the transhumance, to facilitate the best pastures to the cattle and of course, the water, essential to live.

Today, the paths of the medianía are a support of the rural society of our municipality. They unite secluded and friendly nuclei, such as the Boca del Paso - Ifonche trail that takes you to the beautiful old farmhouse of La Quinta, from the 16th century, combining the pine forest with the traditional agricultural landscape of Adeje, crossing three Protected Natural Spaces in a distance of 6.4 kilometers. Or the path of the Camino de Teresme that joins the medianía with Adeje center, head of the municipality, evoking illusions of prosperity, recalling the first teachings in the school or the route of the doctor who helped, on foot or on an animal of the house, the ailments of an entire community.

The comings and goings along these paths remind those who walk them of numerous stories of dances, promises of faith, travelers passing through, cattle dealers and many more, such as the path of Roque del Conde with impressive views of the south of Tenerife, which can be seen from its summit, at 1,100 meters high, the path of Teresme that combines the pine forest with the traditional agricultural landscape of Adeje with a duration of just over six hours or the traditional and so significant for the farmers of El Camino de la Virgen.

If you are passionate about hiking, there is a recommendation that you can not overlook. Don't miss the Barranco del Infierno trail, one of the most popular and visited trails in Tenerife. This trail is located in Costa Adeje and takes you through a steep and lush ravine, offering panoramic views of the surrounding volcanic landscape, a vegetation rich in Canarian endemisms in its bed and a small waterfall at the end of the trail. The trail is approximately 6 kilometers long and is of moderate difficulty. It is important to note that prior reservation is required to access this trail, as the number of daily visitors is limited to preserve the area.

In addition to these specific trails in and around Costa Adeje, Tenerife offers numerous opportunities for nature exploration and hiking. You can check with the local tourist information centers for maps and additional recommendations on nearby trails.

When planning a hiking excursion in Costa Adeje, it is important to wear appropriate clothing and footwear, as well as water and sunscreen.
